Whymper) of which 24 full-page, + 2 large chromo-photogr. ‘Luzern’ & ‘Zürich’ added on white versos by a former owner, hw. name on first fly ‘John Vince’, original green cloth decorated with gilt eagle and chamois framed in decorative black lines, gilt edges, one corner bumped with some loss, in all still a nice copy.

Richly illustrated with engravings, town and village views, landscapes, mountains, mounteneering, glaciers, costumes, animals, railways, etc. This title was an immense library success and went through several editions, all with slight differences of bindings, frontispices and color illustrations.
