‎ 1862, sm. in-8vo, 35 leaves, different kinds of paper. Most of the pages are fully illustrated with sketches by the artist + 7 loosly inserted leaves, engraved exlibris Charles Richard Weld, contemporary half-leather binding.‎

‎Charles Richard Weld (1813-1869) was an accomplished mountaineer and author of the Pyrenees, West and East, 1859 and several other works. Mumms Alpine Club register 1857- 63 pp. 369-371 says ,Many of these (works) were illustrated by his own sketches’ He helped Franklin in research relating his Arctic explorations and was an authority and lecturer on the Arctic. Known historian for the Royal Society. John Leighton (1822-1912) was an English artist notable for his book illustrations and book cover designes.This sketchbook contains numerous pencil or pen and ink sketches, a few with watercolour or wash.
