‎Cond.: New (= sealed) - Text: Fr/Dutch/German - George Grosz (°Deutschland 1893-1959) ist ein visionärer Künstler, der als einer der Meister des deutschen Expressionismus gilt. Nach einer künstlerischen Ausbildung in Berlin und Dresden wurde er 1914 zur Wehrmacht eingezogen, wo er wegen Depressionen abgelehnt wurde. Trotz der Schrecken des Ersten Weltkriegs arbeitete Grosz unvermindert weiter und veröffentlichte seine ersten Mappenwerke. In der Zwischenkriegszeit verfolgte er die politische und gesellschaftliche Entwicklung in Deutschland mit scharfem kritischem Blick und veröffentlichte 1920 Gott mit uns und 1928 Hintergrund . Grosz floh vor dem Nazi-Regime in Deutschland und ging 1933 nach New York, wo er mit seiner Arbeit den Kampf gegen Nationalsozialismus und soziale Ungerechtigkeit fortsetzte. 1937 wurde er amerikanischer Staatsbürger. Erst 1959 kehrte er nach Deutschland zurück, wo er einige Monate später starb.‎
