Two octavo volumes, 210 x 150 mm, Intentions featuring 237 pages and Poems in Prose 307. Rebound in modern leather, four raised bands, "The Writings of Oscar Wilde" and then book name being stamped in gold. Two gilt headbands on the top and bottom of the spine. Original full chocolate maroquine leather boards preserved with gilt ornamented caissons. Gilt leather continues behind the boards with dark green silky endsheets. Top edges gilt. Headbands. Set number written in red, ornamented collection title page, book title page, table of illustrations (engravings) and contents at the beginning of each book. Intentions contains four illustrations and the following texts: The Decay of Living; Pen, Pencil, and Poison; The Critic as Artist. Poems in Prose contains six illustrations and the following texts: The Artist; The Door of God; The Disciple; The Master; The House of Judgment; The Teacher of Wisdom; The Priest and the Acolyte; Rose-leaf and Apple-leaf; Some Cruelties of Prison Life; Lecture on the English Renaissance; Wilde v. Whistler; The Rise of Historical Criticism; The Truth of Masks. All illustrations protected with silk paper.

These are beautiful copies of an extremely hard to find edition. All silk pages are intact. Some rubbing on the edges of the covers, otherwise fine condition.
