Sholom Aleichem (real name Solomon Naumovich Rabinovich 18591916) was a Jewish writer and playwright one of the founders of modern Yiddish fiction including children's literature. As of 1941 it was part of the Association of State Book and Magazine Publishing Houses (OGIZ). Strongin (18961968) editor-in-chief M. S. Belenky) and some of the rank and file employees were arrested. This story is considered the best children's work of Sholom Aleichem.
