Binding very worn, corners worn with loss of leather, Upper joint completely broken, lower joint partly broken, leather missing at lower end of spine, Bookblock intact, with marbled painted edges. Title page a bit dustsoiled and with a small ink stain, Interior with some usual small stains, but still fine. Apart from the worn binding still an acceptable copy of a rare book. Johannes Sleidanus (1506 - 1556) was born in a part of Luxembourg (then part of the Southern Netherlands). He studied at Louvain university, also Cologne, Paris and Orléans. He gathered fame as the author of the history of the Reformation. For this task he spent years at different archives to collect source material. The first edition of his works appeared also in Geneva in 1566.
