.: Antwerpen, J. Trognesius, 1616, format in-8°, (20) nn pp (with engraved title and 1 full page engraving [P. Serwouters]) + 274 pp + (6)nn pp (table), complete, bound in contemporary full overlapping vellum, traces of ties. Small ex-libris (stamp ?) made illegible on title page (1 x 3 cm). Still a fine copy. The author (1553 - 1625) was a Spanish Franciscan monk and during 26 years the confessor to the Spanish Infante Isabella. She was the daughter of Philip II and became the souvereign of the Southern Low Countries. De Soto resided in the Southern Low Countries from 1603 until his death in Brussels in 1625. He wrote this deotion-philosophical text in Spanish. It was translated into Dutch by J. Farzyn. It is the first and only edition. As far as we know a Spanish edition was never published.
