Bound in blue polished half leather, smooth spine with gilt title, marbled endpapers. Fine copy in a contemporary well preserved binding. On the first paste down; the printed ex-libris of Robert Billy, one of the three Roberts in Marcel Proust life. The first owner (Robert de Billy) noted on the fly-leaf : Cadeau de Madame Ducrestde Villeneuve. . Sophie Du Crest de Villeneuve (1825 - 1872) was the daughter of M. Duvaucel, Fermier-Général and also the step-daughter of Baron Cuvier. Fine copy with very interesting provenance."
