With 300 woodcut illustrations cut by Christoffel van Sichem II from designs by Maarten van Heemskerck and Jan van der Straet ( Stradanus ) for the Apostles and after Albrecht Dürer for the Apocalyps. Bound in contemporary full calf , edges painted red. Binding with minimal traces of use. Outer lower joint cracked but holding together. Title page a bit dustsoiled. Some of the illustrations have some old (rather crude) colouring. Very fine copy. From the library of the Jesuit College of Halle ( south of Brussels). With a manuscript ex-libris in the upper margin of the title page.. The printer's name Isbrandt Jacobsz. is only known from the title page of this book. It is a fictitious name used by the Amsterdam publisher Pieter Jakobsz. Paets ( see Delsaerdt, Suam Quisque... pp. 351 note 2).
