" Conimbricae ( Coimbra ) , Ioannes Barrerius & Ioan Alvarez Typographii Regii, 1549, format in-8°, (collation a1-4;A-8(1-8) (with error M1-2 for G1-2). ; (8) nn pp (title within typographical border with large floral decorations) + pp 1-252 , with several pagination errors : 127 for 117, 14 for 141, 205 for 189, 208 for 192, 220 for 220, 118 for 219, 227 for 226, 226 for 227, 144 for 244......Our copy is incomplete for the pp. L8 & M1-6 (pp. 175-188). The pages were probably never bound in, the first owner has added at the end of pp. 174 some additional lines ( copied from pp. 175 ,?). Bound in contemporary vellum, faded title on spine, traces of ties, edges painted red.. On the title page the name Erasmus has been crossed out and replaced with the name of Paulus Manutius (?). With the manuscript ex-libris on the title (upper left corner) Societa Iesu Antverpiae D.P.. On the fly leaf an entry note for the ''Seminarii minores 9 maii 1897'' (French, ?). A fine copy of a rare book (only 2 copies outside Portugal in the OCLC catalogue). Unfortunately lacking 7 leaves. Interesting provenance, from the Jesuit Colleg of Antwerp. Its books were dispersed at the end of the 18th c. when the Jesuit order was suppressed. USTC 343284 The compiler of the indices was the Flemish humanist Jan Waes (1511 Bruges - 1561 Salamanca). He studied at the Collegium Tri-lingue. He met Ferdinand Columbus (son of Christopher) who persuated him to come to Spain were he became librarian of La Colombina: the famous library of Columbus' son."
