‎" Genève, Chez Paul Barde, 1785, 14 vols ; format in-16° ( 130 x 82 mm), with 19 ( of 21) full page engravings by Chodwicki and one portrait frontispiece by Pujos. Uniformly bound in full contemporary leather, double label on spine (title and vol. number). Richly decorated spine, marbled endpapers. The whole series with minimal traces of use. Only a small loss of leather at the volume label of vol. 9. On the whole a nice set. General fine/good interior with only in vol. 1 some waterstains at the first pages , in vol. 5 at thefirst and last pp. The reduced engravings (from the in-8° edition) by Chodowiecki are signed in mirror writing. Of the 21 engravings 2 are missing (nr. 19 and 20). Engraving nr. 16 occurs twice. The work is complete but the binder has placed pp. liii-lxiii (on the life of Richardson) before the other introductory pp . Notwithstanding the defects and irregulareties mentionned above this still remains an interesting set of the in-16° edition. This edition seems to be much rarer then the in-8° edition and is hard to find complete in 14 volumes. (for bibliog. see Cohen; livres à gravures du XVIIIe s. - col. 893)."‎
