An iconic study of Imperial coins and medals of the Roman Empire based on the collection of Cardinal Gasparo di Carpegna. Filippo Buonarroti (1661 - 1733), a great grand nephew of Michelangelo, had served as the Cardinal's secretary, conservator and librarian in Rome from 1684 -1699 and was a prominent Florentine antiquary and politician.
