( 6 folding) ; numerous text engravings, medaillons and vignettes. Ninding with some traces of use. Upper outer joint of volume 2 weal and partly broken with the loss of leather at the top. Interior very fine and stainless, printed on strong paper. Still a fine copy. With the rubber stamp ex-libris of V.F. Lambinet. First edition of the first Italian translation of Winkelmann. It is preceded with a 54 pp eulogy by Heyse. Allthough the work pretends to be a history of the art of drawing in the classical world it turns out to be rather a theoretical study on the Fine Arts ( Vinet). Cicognara 59. Vinet 1255.."
