".: Bruxelles, Caisse Générale d'Epargne et de Retraite de Belgique, 1910, in-f°, 37,5 x 28 cm, 220 pp, with index, publisher's half cloth with illustrated paper covered boards. Some minor marginal damage to the frontcover ( traces of glue), still a very fine copy. A frontpiece publication on the state of social housing in Belgium at the beginning of the 20th century. It describes nearly 70 projects ( all already built) in Belgium. Each housing-project is illustrated with a clear photograph, a full-page groundplan and detailed financial information e.g. the earnings of the tenants etc. All projects were partly financed by the ''Caisse Général d'Epargne...''. This company was much later included in the ill fated Dexia bank. The actual projects were executed by smaller local housing societies with names as e.g. '' Le Foyer Warnetonnais '' ; ''Thieltsen Eigen Heerd '' ; Eigen Woon is Schoon '' ; ''Vlaamsche Heerd '' ; '' Le Foyer Ouvrier '' ; '' Le Foyer Anderlechtois ''...This 1910 publication shows unmistakenly the important role Belgium had taken in the deveopment of social housing for the working class. Text in French. Livre en français."
