( ca. 1839 ), oblong format, in-8°, 13 x 23,5 cm, entirely lithographed, 83 ( of 84 ) leaves, printed on the recto side only. Missing are the front cover and the last leaf ( provided in photocopy), some pages slightly soiled, shaving of the page numbering at some page ( upper edge). Last leaf (83) damaged with loss of paper. Bound in contemporary half cloth with boards covered in marbled paper ( unassuming binding with some wear, no lettering). The title page contains the preface. First edition of the first comic strip ( unfortunately incomplete) .Main work of the Swiss cartoonist Rodolphe Töpffer , the father of modern comic. This book is considered by many to be the first comic book.‎
