Lutetia Parisiorum , Apud Christophorum Beys, Plantini Nepotem, via Iacobaea, sub signo Circini Aurei Coronati, 1598, in-8°, 136 pp + (4)nn pp (index) + (4)nn pp (blank). ( complete) With 20 copper engraved illustrations ( one full page ) and some wood-engraved vignets. Bound in somewhat later full calf with a raised spine with gilt decoration, marbled endpapers, edges painted red ( French 17th c. binding). One corner of the binding with some small loss of leather, interior with at some pages minor worming ( not interfering with the legibility nor the engravings). In all still a very good copy. This Paris edition by the son in law of the Antwerp printer-publisher Christophe Plantin appeared 4 years after the first authorised Plantin edition ( 1594 - Imhoff L-17 ). The son in law ( Beys ) based this edition entirely on the Antwerp imprint. At the end he even reprints the ''Approbatio'' which is signed by Henricus Cuyckius, Dean of the University of Louvain and Royal book censor, dated in Louvain 12th december 1592. USTC N° 146628 ..
