This publication is his main work. With the help of a primitive microscope he makes here a detailed description of the mussel ( edible bivalves of the marine family Mytilidae ). He is the first to observe and describe the mussel's filter feeding mechanism with the cilia and their '' motus radiosus or motus tremulus ''. This is a first and original edition.
