12. S.l. ( Marimont-Houdeng) , no printer ( Waroqué family ?) , 1831, in-4°, 27,5 x 21,5 cm, (2) nn pp + 37 pp + 1 large folding map with some colouring, sewn, original printed wrapper. Text in French. Rare publication with the proposal to construct a railway to link the coal mines of Mariemont-Houdeng (in the province of Hainaut - Belgium ) with canals leading to Charleroi and Brussels. The project did not foresee the use of steam locomotives. The railway wagons were still moved by horse power. This is a one of the very first railway projects on the continent, a forebode of the industrial revolution which had already started in England and which soon was to grow in this part of southern Belgium. ( early railway project - industrial revolution - horse drawn railway - coal mining ).
