ISBN 9789055447190. A unique collection of artists' hands. The guestbook of George Wittenborn (1905-1974), the great art bookseller from New York, is a collection of more than 190 drawings, prints and collages by artists, collected between 1944 and 1974. It contains contributions from Marcel Duchamp, among others. Max Ernst, Arshile Gorky, Asger Jorn, Franz Kline, Man Ray, Andy Warhol, Joan Miro and Le Corbusier. Half a century later, Ronny Van de Velde and Ludion continued Wittenborn's work. The collection was enriched by the hands of contemporary artists, both foreign (John Baldessari, Marlene Oumas, Richard Serra, Bruce Nauman, Richard Long, Louise Bourgeois, etc.) and all leading Belgian artists. This project is reflected in a voluminous book of more than 600 pages: Artists' Handbook and in a unique exhibition at the S.M.A.K., The Hands of Art.
