"10. Glasgow, Yarrow Shipbuilders Ltd., 1916, oblong in-4° album, 22 x 28,5 cm, ca. 100 nn pp , left hand side contains text of speeches, right hand side contains pictures of vessels built by the company and illustrating its 50 years of existance. Tipped on after the last text leaf is a colour lithograph '' While England Sleeps'' ; a bulldog watching from a gun barrel of a navy ship. Bound in publisher's glazed cloth boards with gilt decoration and lettering on front cover. Very nice copy with only minimal traces of use at the binding. Nice informative album illustrating the first 50 years of Yarrow, a major British shipbuilder. The company was founded by Alfred Yarrow (later Sir Alfred Yarrow) in 1865. It was a leading builder of destroyers and frigates for the Royal Navy and other Navies. E.g. illustrated in the album is H.M.S. '' Hornet'' the first destroyer ( torpedo-boat destroyer) constructed for the British Admirality."
