"16. S.l. ( Brussel - Liège ) , De L'Imprimerie des Nations , ( M. Lemaire imprimeur), 1787 -1790, 17 parts bound in 9 volumes (complete). In all over 3000 pp, with e.g. 6 engravings and 3 folding tables bound in. Uniformly bound in contemporary full calf, title labels on gilt decorated spine, edges painted red, each volume with the supra-libro of Jean-Baptiste Croquet on both covers (cfr. de Jonghe d'Ardoye , vol. I, pp. 179). On the title page a small circular library stamp of the convent of the carmelites of Bruges, on the first paste down a tipped on red leather ex-lbris of Carlo de Poortere. Bound in as the 18th part in volume 9 ; Lettres d'un Chanoine pénitencier de la Métropole de *** à un Chanoine Théologal..., folding frontispiece + xii pp + 308 pp. Some wear at some bindings, some pages dustsoiled , overall in good condition. According Delsaerdt & Roegiers in their catalogue '' Brabant in Revolutie'', K.U.L. 1988, item 56; this publication which stopped at the end of 1790 (collapse of the United Dutch States - Union des Provinces Belgiques) is the main source collection regarding this revolutionary period. Note on the supra-libro ; The Canon of Saint-Donatien of Bruges ; Jean-Baptiste Croquet died in 1646. Apparently at the end of the next century a Bruges bookbinder still used the canon's irons to embellish his products. Two of the three book titles given by De Jonghe d'Ardoye which carry Croquet's arms were published post-mortem. Note on the place of imprint ; No place of imprint is given. In the first recueil is mentioned M. Lemaire of Brussels. In the preface of the second recueil this name is repeated as the name of J. Tutot at Liège. (See also Theux de Montjardin col. 704-705)."
