Houzeau famous astronomer and one of the directors of the Uccle observatory (near Brussels). His political activities led to his expulsion and brought him to the US were he took an active part in the struggle for the abolition of slavery. At the end of his life he was reinstated as director of the Uccle observatory. A fascinating 19th century scientist and political activist.
