P(aul) Meyers, Minister van Volksgezondheid, dated 17 march 1960, on the occasion of his visit to the new waterworks at Walem. Signed by the F. Morrens and V. Van den Eynde (Mayors of Walem, Sint Katelijne Waver). Binding ; bound in full claret red morocco, raised spine with gilt title , top edge gilt, marbled gilt sprinkled endpapers, kept in a matching slipcase of board covered with marbled paper. The binding is signed on the lower leather margin of the first paste down page '' H. Puylaert''. A nice and perfectly preserved binding. The Antwerp bookbinder Hugo Puylaert was one of the finest craftsman of his generation. In 1944 he acquired the tools and the equipment of that other famous Antwerp binder Laurent Peeters. Puylaert is also known for the exquisite use he made of marbled paper , often gilt sprinkled. This binding offers a fine example of that art."
