" Paris, chez Deslauriers Md. de Papier, rue St. Honoré à coté de celle des Prouvaires, in-4°, 32 x 24 cm, engraved title + 279 pp of engraved music. Bound before the title is a nice full page lithographed portrait of the composer with his name ''Gluck'' and a lyre with flowers underneath the portrait . The portrait is signed in the stone (unreadable). Bound in an early 19th century half morocco binding, smooth spine with gilt title, double fillets on both covers, edges painted yellow (except two leaves where the bookbinder has carefully avoided to cut the paper to size and therefore into the staves). With supra libro leather label with the initials A.G. (?), (bound by Delaville, rue Neuve des Petits Champs, with his engraved label in the upper corner of the first paste down). Exceptionally fine copy with a nice original binding and a crisp interior. First edition ; shared between '' Le Bureau du Journal de Musique '' and the publisher Deslauriers. (See Hopkinson , Bibliography of the Works of Gluck , item 45A.)."
