Bound in contemporary colour dyed mottled calf, edges painted red, covers with a floral gilt border, marbled endpapers. The binding is neatly and expertly rebacked with the original spine laid down - label slightly chipped. From the front endpaper have been removed two labels. Internally a fine clean copy. Giuseppe Calandrelli (1749-1827) founded the astronomical observatory of the Collegio Romano during the period (1773-1824) that this institute functioned outside the suppressed Jesuit order. In this publication he sets out to calculate with extreme precision the latitude of the institute (41°53'54, 32)."
