Complete. With numerous small woodcuts (Van Sichem, Vander Borcht ?). Bound in 16th-17th century full calf over wooden boards, covers with intricate blindtooling, raised back with title in blindtooling; ''heilige scriftuer"" (sic). Expertly rebacked and with some small binding restorations.Title page a bit thumbed and stained, upper inner margin of last 25 leaves with a clear waterstain but a very fine complete copy in a remarkably well preserved binding. (Imhof B-36 issue B , published by Jan Moretus and Jan van Keerberghen). This is a fine copy of the Moerentorf bible This was the standard bible of the Counter-Reformation in the Southern Low Countries and the first bible in Dutch to be approved by the Roman Catholic Church. See Darlow and Moule 3300 which describes this edition but with a rather different signature. The copy of Leuven University has also a signature which is different from our copy."
