The binding is signed by A. Despierres rel. de l'Empereur (bookbinder of Napoleon III). 18th century edition of this very popular emblematical work of poetry. The engravings are by Boetius à Bolswert. The first edition was from 1624. Nicely preserved copy in an interesting binding.
