"10. Liège, Jacques Le Noir, 1683, in-8°, folding engraved frontispiece, xxvi nn + 164 ill., contemporary leather, raised and gilt decorated spine, marbled endpapers, red edges, some slight damage at ends of spine but a fine copy, two old ex-libris labels. Very rare. An vehement jansenist attack against the jesuits, of which an earlier version was published on the occasion of their 1654 almanac. The author was Isaac Louis Le Maistre, 1613-1684, a priest from Port-Royal, translator and author. The second part is by Jean Barbier d'Aucourt, a lawyer and member of the Académie Française, 1664. A third part of 112 pp ; Réponse à la Lettre d'une Personne de condition; Touchant les regles de la conduite des Saint Pères dans la composition de leurs ouvrages, pour la deffense des Veritez combattuës, ou de l'Innocence calomniée , written by Antoine Arnauld is missing here and was never bound in in this copy."
