This monthly magazine was published by the Centaure-Gallery, which was founded by Walther Schwarzenberg and played a major part in the modern and avant-garde art movement in Belgium during the interbellum. It is furthermore of great importance for the surrealist publicity designs by Magritte. Other contributors include A. De Ridder, P. Fierens, Luc and Paul Haesaerts, M. Sauvage, A. Cantillon, M. Roelants, Ph. Soupault. Complete runs are very rare, we offer here a complete set of the third year (1928-1929) consisting of 10 issues. The gallery played an important role during the interbellum years and introduced in Belgium many of the great names in 20th century painting ; e.g. H.Campendonck , Chagall , A.Derain, de Vlaminck, Dix , Dufy , Max Ernst , G.Groz , M.Laurencin , Picasso , Miro , Valentine Prax. Belgian artists include Cantré , G.de Smet , Ensor , R.Guiette , F.Jespers , Mambour , Permeke , Tytgat , F.Van den Berghe a.o . The gallery was animated by Walter Schwarzenberg.
