2. Bruxelles, Imprimerie et Lithographie des Beaux-Arts, 1851, small in-folio, 31 x 23,5 cm, 127 pp + 16 plates h.t. (engravings, lithographies and two toned litho plates), publisher's cased binding. (Top of spine damaged, corners bumped, gilt paper of the covers oxydized). This well illustrated report on the Brussels' salon of 1851 was published in installments. On the title page the publisher announces 20 plates, the index (published at the end of the run) mentions 16 plates. The text ends at pp. 127. We could compare our copy with another copy which contains an index with 20 plates. That copy contained also 168 text pages. So we catch our publisher in the fraudulent act of publishing an incomplete copy ( in a publisher's binding) for which he even printed a shortened index. No wonder he went bankrupt in 1854. Salon commentary on artists e.g. Courbet , Dekeyser , Coomans , Portaels , Vandenkerckhove.... [ we have listed more publications on the Brussels - Bruxelles Salon.
