16. Antverpiae (Antwerpen), Ex officina Hieronymi Verdussi, 1620, in-folio, 30,5 x 20 cm, title printed in red and black with the Verdussen printer's mark + (20) nn pp (includes a finely engraved portrait in the text) + 336 pp + (6)(nn pp = pp 337-342) + (28)(index). Contemporary vellum over boards, traces of green silk ties, manuscript title on spine, edges painted red. Nothwithstanding a small worm gallery of 3 cm at the last 5 pages, not interfering with legibility, still a nice clean copy. The author (born in Ath, died in Leuven) was twice elected chancellor of Louvain University. This is the first edition of his first book, published posthumously. It is also considered to be his best work. At the end it contains the funeral homily by Maximilian Wittebort. (See Dekkers pp.64.1). The book went through at least six editions, the last in Florence in 1839.
