"16. Paris, Imprimerie et Librairie Centrales des Chemins de Fer, Imprimerie Chaix, 1889, 2 vols small in-folio, 32 x 23 pp, 97 pp (Text) ; (4)nn pp + 22 plates (mostly folding and double), bound in uniform publisher's dark red cloth with gilt title on front cover and spine. Manuscript ex-dono by Hersant and Schneider on title. Nice copies. The project of Schneider and Hersant was the most realistic bridge project to be presented in the 19th century. It was only rejected because of the hindrance it would cause to shipping traffic. The cantilever bridge was to be built on pillars with a height of ca. 55 m and 500 (300) meters apart. The cantilever lenght was to be approx. 750 meters."
