Contemporary full calf, double gilt fillet on covers, raised back with three gilt titles (upper cover partly loose, top and end of spine damaged with some loss of leather, corners worn with loss of leather, some stains and browning at the interior, especially book three is more browned, a few marginal worm galleries in book four. Notwithstanding these defects a rather well preserved convolute/Sammelband. It would be worthwhile to try to unravel the early 17th century scholarly motives which brought these 5 rare and highly interesting books on history together in one binding. Unfortunately there is no indication of provenance."
