Diesth (Gillis van Diest), 1546, in-8°, 9,5 x 15 cm, title with large typographical border consisting of grotesque + (522)pp (numbered 2-262) + (4)(index) + (1)(bl), later full calf, rebacked with original spine, repairs to foot of spine, top margins a bit cut close but never affecting text. Attractive Antwerp edition of the works of '' the Horace and Vergil of the Christians'', the Roman poet Prudentius (348 - ca. 410). The commentary is by the Spanish historian Antonio de Lebrixa and first appeared in 1512. Some of the naked grotesque figures of the title have faint faded ink stains, traces of a former prudish owner. On the fly leaf is noted in old hand; ''La manière dont les figures sont mutilés indique que ce livre vient de la vente de Mons. Houdet, curé de Mouroux, ...H.D. Adams ''.P 2183. Palau 239824 ."
