Daullé) + (32)nn pp + 306 pp + (2)nn pp (permission, errata), contemporary full calf, raised gilt spine, sprinkled edges, ex-library with small circular stamp on title and library label on first pastedown, binding rather worn, some pages with slight foxing stains, in all still an acceptable copy. (Reliure un peu usée, qq. pages avec légères rousseurs). Rare copy of a fine Tournai imprint. All pages printed within a typographical double fillet border. The portrait probably especially made for this publication as it is also dated 1740. First edition. The author, a native of Tournai, became headmaster of the Jesuit Colleges at Namur, Valenciennes and Tournai. According to De Backer-Sommervogel (see Vol. VIII, col. 366-367) ''l'auteur semble avoir opposé ce poème à celui de Racine''.‎
