Amstelodami (Amsterdam), Apud Ludovicum Elzevirium, 1653, in-folio, title printed in red and black + (10)pp + 968 pp + 22(index). Contemporary full vellum binding, with blindtooled Goddess Minerva (Justitia ) on the cover (some restorations at the spine, traces of the green silk ties, but a fine/good copy). This is the first Elzevier edition, the only one in-folio. It was twice reprinted by Elzevier in the in-4° format. The first edition is from 1626. This is a very much esteemed edition and one of the most beautiful books printed by the Elzevier press. (See Willems 1164). Antonio Perez was a law professor at Leuven university. His commentaries on Justinianus are interesting because he adds his own views on legal history in Spain, Germany, France and of course the Low Countries. A fine/good copy. (See Dekkers pp. 132 /6, Brants Bio. Nat. XVII , 11).
