The first-ever non-stop flight from the USSR to the United States took place on June 18-20 1937 on the ANT-25 consisting of: crew commander V.P. Chkalov co-pilot G.F. Baidukov and navigator A.V. Belyakov. After a failed attempt to fly from the USSR to the United States via the North Pole in August 1935 the crew of S. Levanevsky G. Baidukov and V. Levchenko (due to a malfunction of the aircraft) and a training flight between Moscow and Udd Island in July 1936 Soviet pilots Valery Chkalov Georgy Baidukov and Alexander Belyakov left the ANT-25 airfield near Moscow in August 1935 and headed for the North Pole.
