Chast' 1 Short description: In Russian (ask us if in doubt).Before that Homer's epic poem was published twice in Russian in prose and in 1787 the first 6 songs of the work were published in a poetic translation by E. Kostrov composed in the size of the Alexandrian verse. Wanting to continue Kostrov's work Gnedich began further translation of the poem in the same size. However after six years of hard work the poet made the willful decision to translate the entire translation opting for a Russian hexameter the size according to Gnedich that most vividly conveyed Homer's verse. Nikolai Ivanovich devoted twenty years of his life to the translation of the Iliada. We have thousands of titles and often several copies of each title may be available.
