It was a closed privileged educational institution producing commanders with excellent training. Almost all Russian naval officers were educated here. It began 300 years ago on January 14 1701 by the highest decree of Peter the Great the School of Mathematical and Navigational Sciences which was later renamed the Naval Cadet Corps. Among its graduates are such famous people as the composer N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov the artist A.P. Vereshchagin the compiler of the Russian Language Dictionary V.I. Dal as well as the discoverers of Antarctica F.F. Bellingshausen and M.P. Lazarev to G.I. Nevelsky. We have thousands of titles and often several copies of each title may be available.
