The man from the restaurant - the most significant work of Ivan Shmelev (1873-1950 who lived since November 1922 abroad) written by him in 1910 in which he depicted the life of the oppressed the life of invisible people. The author chose as the hero of his novel a representative of a profession despised by all which was considered humiliating and degrading the human dignity of the waiter of the restaurant.
