Vignette dorée sur la première planche de chaque volume et titres au dos. Les deux volumes sont en bon état, propres et sans défauts significatifs, avec juste un petit choc à la tête et à la queue de la colonne vertébrale. Imprimé à la presse de Chiswick, 1892. Édition limitée numérotée. Édition limitée à 1000 exemplaires, dont celui-ci est l'exemplaire n° 901. Faces de tête et initiales ornementales. Traduit en anglais par Sir Thomas Urquhart of Cromarty et Peter Antony Motteux ; avec une introduction par Anatole de Montaiglon. Le frontispice et les autres planches sont de Louis Chalon. L'intérieur est en excellent état et propre. Chaque volume porte l'ex-libris de Sir William J. Pope. (b. 1870). Il était chimiste et membre de la Royal Society. Pendant la Première Guerre mondiale, il a fait partie du Board of Invention and Research de l'Amirauté. Il a notamment contribué à la mise au point de méthodes de préparation et de distribution du gaz moutarde ! Il est le seul chimiste à avoir été anobli pour son service pendant la guerre. Both volumes are in good, clean condition without and significant flaws, and just a little bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Printed at the Chiswick Press, 1892. Numbered, Limited Edition. Limited Edition of 1000 copies, of which this is copy #901. Ornamental headpieces and initials. Translated into English by Sir Thomas Urquhart of Cromarty and Peter Antony Motteux ; with an introduction by Anatole de Montaiglon The frontispiece and other plates by Louis Chalon. Internally in excellent, clean condition throughout. Each volume holds the bookplate of Sir William J. Pope. (b. 1870). He was a chemist and fellow of the Royal Society. During the First World War he served of the Board of Invention and Research at the Admiralty. One of his contributions was methods of preparing and distributing mustard gas! He was the only chemist knighted for his service in the war. He died in 1939. Xlvi, 341; xii; 455 pp. Plus 14 leaves of plates, each with tissue guard. 28.5cm x 20.5cm.
