The rare second edition of Pontoppidan's work on Christian faith and the characteristics that define a true believer. The present work was a great influence on Swedish Lutheran lay preacher Carl Olof Rosenius, impressing upon him the importance of conversion and having a living faith. Erik Ludvigsen Pontoppidan (1698 – 1764) was a Danish author, a Lutheran bishop of the Church of Norway, a historian and an antiquarian.
