Uncommon interesting geographical work which according Norwegian historian and author Ludvig Daae is the first presentation of general geography written by a Norwegian. In 1698 Lund embarked on a voyage to the Far East aboard a Dutch ship, making several stops along the way. Notably, he recounts an encounter with the Hottentots in South Africa. He spent two years in Batavia (now Jakarta, Indonesia), where he engaged in trade with the Chinese. His writings also document a significant earthquake that struck Batavia in 1699. The broader region of Asia is explored on pages 282–356.Biblioteca Danica II, 392.
