Rare first edition of Rus’ extensive and most famous work in which he sought to harmonize the narratives of the four Gospels in the New Testament. It represents an effort to analyze and reconcile any apparent discrepancies or differences in the Gospel accounts, presenting them as a unified narrative. Johann Reinhard Rus (1679–1738) was a Protestant theologian known for his scholarship and theological works. Educated in Giessen and Jena, where he eventually became a professor, Rus declined several prestigious offers choosing to remain in Jena until his death.
