The rare first edition of Walch’s introduction to philosophy intended by Walch to be a companion to his earlier ‘Lexicon’. His introduction is divided into three parts. The first part addresses the ""Character of Philosophical Cognition,"" the second covers key disciplines like logic, metaphysics, natural philosophy, ethics and political philosophy, and the third explores ""Philosophical Secrets,"" focusing on the mind and soul. Johann Georg Walch (1693 – 1775) was a German Lutheran theologian. He studied at Leipzig and Jena, his teacher being J. F. Buddeus whose daughter he married.
