The uncommon reprint of the first part of Paulus Manutius' 1554 edition of Cicero's rhetorical works (Renouard 1554.12), containing three of his most important rhetorical treatises, De Inventione, Topica and Oratoriae Partitiones, as well as the Pseudo-Ciceronian Rhetorica ad Herennium. Cicero's rhetorical works, Rhetorica ad Herennium and De Inventione in particular, played an important role in teaching of rhetoric throughout the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. Paulus Manutius was one of the most prominent Ciceronian scholars of his time, and his editions, containing numerous original textual corrections a valuable contribution to Ciceronian scholarship.
