Wear to extremities, especially back board with numerous scratches and a few holes in leather, making the wooden boards visible. Lower part of back hinge split. ‎Fourth edition of Byfield’s commentary of The Epistle to the Colossians being the twelfth book of the New Testament written by Paul, the first edition being from 1615. “The present Commentary is a fine specimen of Puritan exposition, indicating an extensive and intensive knowledge of the Word of God, and great soundness of judgment, and great faithfulness in dealing with the hearts and consciences of men. There is no eloquence in it, but a serious, earnest desire is manifest to keep back nothing of the counsel of God and we are much mistaken if ministers do not find it profitable, as suggestive of many hints which may enrich their own expositions of this Epistle.” (From the introduction to the 1849 reprint).‎
