A few notes and previous owner's name to front free end-paper. Inner hinges a bit weak. Internally fine. ‎Interesting sammelband containing two works both dealing with the crucifixion of Christ. Lipsius (in ‘De Cruce liber tres’) argues that Jesus was impaled on a single upright stake and not a cross and Bartholin (In ‘De Cruce Christi’) discusses the physiological aspects of Jesus’ body and how it probably would have reacted to a crucifixion and the wound inflicted by a Roman soldier. Some religious scholars such as Barthold Nihus found Bartholin's hypotheses about the blood and water running from the wound proposterous because they could be interpreted as if Christ did not in fact die of the crucifixtion itself.‎
