Rare first edition of Salmoiraghi's work on Rangefinders (Télémétre). Angelo Salmoiraghi was a student of Ignaz Peter Paul Porro (1801-75) who in the 1860s in Turin opened the ""Officina Filotecnica"" (workshop and school of optics, instrument building and fine mechanics). Salmoiraghi bought his teacher's Milan-based ""Società Filotechnica"" and renamed it to ""Filotecnica Salmoiraghi"". The company still exists today under the name of ""Salmoiraghi & Viganò"".
