‎First printing of Preisach seminal paper in which generalizes hysteresis loops as the parallel connection of independent relay hysterons - today known as the Preisach model of hysteresis. Hysteresis is the dependence of a system not only on its current environment but also on its past environment. This dependence arises because the system can be in more than one internal state. The Preisach Model is being used in such different branches of science as engineering, mechanics, biology and economics. ‎
